When we use Functional Notation we write f(x)= instead of y.
Eg) instead of:
y=3x+2
Let x=3
y= 3(3)+2
y=9+2
y=11
when we write:
f(x)= 3x+2
let x=3
f(3)=3(3)+2
f(3)=9+2
f(3)=11
We use this because we are given "x" and it is cleaner for mathematicians to
use.
BELOW IS 3X + 2
*More Examples
**
f(x) = 3x+8
x=3
f(3) = 3(3)+8
f(3) = 9+8
f(3) = 17
**
f(x) = 6x2
x = 6
f(6) = 6(6)2
f(6) = 362
f(6) = 34
